Should You Write on Medium or A Personal Blog?
That is the question
But actually, the first question is — why do I write? Who am I writing for?
I write becuase I enjoy writing. I enjoy putting words on “paper” (ha). I like seeing them flow out of me. I like keeping of record of me, in that moment, so that future me can look back and understand myself more, with hopefully wiser eyes.
That is to say, I’m writing for myself.
This begs the question — why don’t I just write this in a diary…why do I want to put it online?
This is harder to answer. On the one hand what I’m writing feels personal enough that I don’t want everyone who knows me to be able to read it and associate it with me. On the other, I do want people to read it. I want strangers to read it and feel like it resonates. I want strangers to relate to it and feel like they are not alone in this world. That some unnamed person on the internet also feels the way they do. Or perhaps have found a solution to a problem they’re facing.
I’m writing for you, inadvertently.
